I really appreciate the work Ponthafren do supporting the wellbeing of the local community. I work for the National Trust at Powis Castle and have had great pleasure working with Ponthafen to establish the Community Garden here at Powis. I am an enthusiastic amateur when it comes to gardening, but I appreciate the positive affect being outdoors and in nature has on my own mood.
Over 125 years ago the founder of the National Trust Octavia Hill said “The need of quiet, the need of air, and I believe the sight of the sky and of things growing, seem basic human needs.” After the pandemic we all recognised the need for people to connect with green spaces and so it seemed a natural choice to partner with Ponthafren to create this special place.
We want to offer people an opportunity to get closer to nature, build relationships and find a sense of purpose. I’ve found the project personally rewarding and confidence building and look forward to working with Ponthafren on other projects to support our community.
